The term “International Subscriber Dialling,” also known as “International Direct Dialling,” “IDD,” or simply “ISD Code,” refers to the country code used to make direct phone calls to a mobile subscriber from outside of a country or region. The process starts with the international call prefix for the country leaving, moves on to the country calling code or ISD code for the country entering, and ends with the subscriber’s phone number.

Dialing a phone or mobile number to a different nation or area requires using country codes. Dialing the country code should come before the national phone number or mobile number. The requirement to dial the local international call prefix first is indicated by the plus sign (+) preceding the ISD Code. North America’s international calling code prefix is 011.
