Temple
Kaliyuga Varadaraja Perumal Temple, Kallankurichi
About 10 km from Ariyalur, this temple is unusual: Vishnu is represented by a 12-foot wooden pillar (sthambam) found by a villager about 250 years ago. The Dasavathara Mandapam has fine Vijayanagara-period carvings of the ten avatars, and farmers offer part of their harvest, stored in large granaries around the temple. The car festival (therottam) is held in March โ April.
