Lower Anaicut (Anaikarai)
The Lower Anaicut, or Anaikarai, is a dam and bridge across the Kollidam (the northern branch of the Kaveri), built by the Madras Presidency to irrigate the old South Arcot district. Stones from the ruins of Gangaikonda Cholapuram were used in its construction โ a direct link to our town's Chola past.
